Start your career in Barbering with this Beginners Barbering Course. You will learn to cut and style using the 5 Alan d Foundation haircuts along with clipper work, beard and moustache trimming, scissor-over-comb techniques, client care, shampooing, styling and Barber-shop protocol.

Alan d Foundation Barbering Cutting & Styling certification is awarded on completion of the course.

This course can be taken at both our London and Ipswich Barbering Schools.

Our Foundation Barbering Cutting & Styling Course can be taken at both our London and Ipswich Barbering Schools.

Located in West Smithfield, Farringdon, our London Barbering School is in the heart of London. Here you’ll learn in a realistic working environment using professional Barbering tools.

Our Ipswich Barbering School is located on Queen Street, Central Ipswich, making it easily accessible by public transport and by car. Similarly to our London school, you’ll be working in a realistic Barbershop environment and learn from some of the best Barber trainers in the industry.

Do I need any qualifications to take your Foundation Barbering Course?
No, you don’t need any particular qualifications to take this Beginners Barbering Course but spoken English is essential.


Can I take this course part-time?
Yes, our Foundation Barbering Course can be taken part-time at both our London and Ipswich Hair Schools. Students must attend classes at least 3 consecutive days per week to complete the course.


What can I expect in your Barber classes?
On this course you’ll receive both practical and theory training and will be cutting hair on day 2. You’ll learn clipper work, moustache and beard trimming, client care and more.


Is the Alan d Foundation Barbering certificate industry recognised?
Yes, all Alan d certificates are industry recognised and are a great way to start your career in barbering.


Will this course allow me to work as a professional Barber?
To work as a Barber, you’ll need to do some further Barbering training to expand your skillset. We would suggest taking either our Level 3 Diploma in Barbering or Level 2 NVQ in Barbering Course, so you can work towards becoming a professional Barber.


What Barbering Courses can I take after this to expand my skills?
We have a full or part-time Level 3 Diploma in Barbering Course and a Level 2 NVQ in Barbering Course which are ideal for those who’ve taken this course or are looking to be work-ready upon completion.
