The Alan d Story – 60 Years In
Biography Update 2017 – 2022
The last time I wrote an update to my biography was in 2017, unbelievably 5 years ago. I wrote about the passing of my old boss, Eric Fielding and at that time I thought that anything else was of little interest to anybody. The industry was in growth and the business was running smoothly. But, looking back at those last 5 years, in retrospect it is probably been the most interesting and challenging of times we’ve had since the early 90’s. As you can see, thankfully, I’m still alive and still doing it.
In the coming chapters I’ll be talking about:
- Chapter 24: Giving up our ESFA contract (the government contract allowing us to deliver apprenticeships)
- Chapter 25: Moving from a direct purchasing account with one of the Big 5 to a wholesale company
- Chapter 26: Barbering being taken seriously
- Chapter 27: Moving premises in Ipswich
- Chapter 28: A Wedding in New York & Moving home from Central London
- Chapter 29: A New Apprenticeship Programme
- Chapter 30: The Pandemic Part 1
- Chapter 30: The Pandemic Part 2
- Chapter 30: The Pandemic Part 3
- Chapter 30: The Pandemic Part 4
- Chapter 31: Post Pandemic
For now, just to say, that despite all of the above, we are back; bloodied but not bowed!
See you in Chapter 24 very soon.
