Hairdressing & Barbering Apprenticeships

If you’re thinking of applying for one of our hairdressing or barbering apprenticeships at our London or Ipswich hair academies, check out our FAQs below where we answer the most commonly asked questions by students. For further information about our apprenticeships, please call us on 020 7634 9400 or email enquiries@websitedesignoxfordshire.co.uk.

What qualifications do I need to apply for one of your apprenticeships?
Great news – you don’t need any qualifications to apply for an Alan D hairdressing or barbering apprenticeship. All you require is a positive attitude, a passion for the industry, and a desire to learn.

How many days a week will I need to work in a Salon or Barbershop?
As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll be required to work in a salon / barbershop. This provides you with the perfect chance to practice your skills and learn from professional hairdressers and barbers. You will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.

How many days a week will I need to attend classes at one of your hairdressing academies?
You will come to us every month on our unique weekly block programme or on a day-release.

Will I get paid to work as an Apprentice in a Salon or Barbershop?
You’ll be paid for your work as an apprentice, which is a real advantage. The exact amount you’ll receive depends on your age, and also how far you’ve progressed with your apprenticeship. To find out more, check out the information on the GOV.UK site here.

Can I receive Government Funding to attend one of your apprenticeships?
All apprenticeships are government-Funded, which means we receive funding for your training, directly from them.

Will I need to sit an exam at the end of my apprenticeship?
At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll be required to take an End-Point-Assessment (EPA). This is to ensure that you’ve mastered the skills required for your future career as a hairdresser or barber.

Will I receive certification once I complete one of your apprenticeship courses?
Yes. Once you’ve completed your apprenticeship, you’ll receive the New Hair Professional Apprenticeship certificate, recognised industry-wide.
